Cub Scout Camporall

Oct 5th and 6th, we spent the weekend at Camp Synder in Haymarket VA to go to Camporall with Evan's Cub Scout Pack.  The theme was Last of the Cub Lords or something like that and they had a whole lot sword based activities.  They made and decorated swords and then they had a couple of people from the Renaissance Festival there to teach them proper techniques for sword fighting.

Evan also did the ropes course and was terrified the whole time!!  I thought for sure one of us was going to have to climb up and "save" him but he ended up making it!

Here are some pictures from the weekend.   I didn't take many because it was super hot and dusty and I just was too hot to lug around the camera all weekend.

I took a LOT of photos that first season of soccer.

I mean for one game I have like 100 photos.  So I'm trying to scrap them but not just put one per page or I'll have a whole book dedicated to one soccer game!!  Here are two layouts I did this morning/last night with some soccer photos.  At least I'm getting my money's worth out of that soccer ball Quickutz die!

Both these layouts were based on sketches.  The top one from STUCK?!, using their October 1st sketch.  The bottom one based on a sketch from Julie Bonner that a friend posted on Facebook.

Bear Bicycle Safety Day

Evan's Bear Den had their bicycle safety day at their meeting.  I was so proud of Evan actually riding his bike at the meeting!!

iPhone Photos Just Don't Cut It

When it comes to showing off scrapbooking layouts, iPhone photos just don't help.  You can't read the journaling or see the details.  So I broke out the camera and took some real photos of my last layouts and this new one that I finished up last night.  Trying to power through my stash of supplies and I've given myself permission to throw away the scraps.  Feels good.

I'm not sure how much of that HUGE pack of Studio Calico feathers I'm going to use.  They are a little weird looking.

So I'm getting back to scrapping.

So it has been a long time that I've gone downstairs and scrapped regularly but I've done it the last two days and I've gotten two pages done.

They are both soccer pages from when Ian played for the first time when we lived in Texas.

Picture Day!!

The boys have picture day at school today. We went to Old Navy to pick out clothes for the big day (it's a big day when you hate wearing a uniform every day) and the boys ended up picking out the same shirt!!

Labor Day Bike Ride

We met some friends at Gravelly Park for a Labor Day bike ride and picnic.  The kids did great on their bikes and I think Ian is ready for a bigger bike.  Very fun!  And it was really cool to watch the planes take off and land from the park while we were waiting!

Maryland Renaissance Festival

We did something totally different and took the kids to the Maryland Renaissance Festival on Sunday.  I can't believe we've never gone to one before, it was so much fun!  The kids met the king and got knighted, we watched bagpipe players and belly dancers, played human chess, watched a duel and a joust and saw LOTS of weirdly dressed people!
