PTC Meeting Sing-A-Long

Last minute it was decided that the first graders were going to sing at the PTC meeting. So we missed soccer practice (which ended up getting rained out anyways) and went to the cafeteria to listen to them sing. We got to hear the PTC news about how much money they have raised and have and it makes me sad to think that even though they have so much money my kids probably won't see anything from it. It would be nice to see them use that money on the kids instead of something stupid that won't really benefit all the kids.

Well it started out all confusion since none us really knew what was going on and there wasn't anyone there to say -- you should go here!! They didn't even have the tables pulled up and chairs set out so we just sat in the table nearest the stage and hoped that they didn't make us move. Should have brought my other lens because this one would only get so far away and I would have liked to have gotten some shots of the whole group, but then again I guess I could have gotten up and moved too. LOL!!!

First two are of both boys, Evan wanted to stand on stage with his brother and get his picture taken. The others of Ian singing. He was watching Ms. Oliver who was sitting to my right to make sure he was doing all the right hand gestures. The songs they sang were mostly about food. I am still scratching my head as to why they learned a song that was nothing but the names of fast food resturants. I thought they were supposed to be learning about healthy eating habits.

From the Kids Club

Evan loves going to the Kids Club at my gym. Which is a good thing because it makes me go to the gym and I have to stay there for at least an hour because otherwise Evan gets mad because he didn't get to play with his friends as long as he wanted too. I am lucky to have 2 boys who get along with other kids well and can go someplace like that and not be all freaked out about mommy leaving them. Yesterday the lady in charge made a craft with them. They colored a football player and then cut him out and glued him to a styrofoam cup and added a football to his hand. We brought it home and used it yesterday as a snack cup and filled it up with cheese crackers. Evan is always very proud of his creations!!

Military Terminology

OK so sometimes I forget that not everyone is military and knows what the heck I am talking about. Here is a little run down from my last post....

TDY = temporary duty (aka = my hubby had to go TDY to Washington DC for some business meetings). I guess in the civilian side of the world a wife would just say my hubby is going to Washington DC for business but the military likes to make things hard and put acronyms in all the places that they possibly can.

Ghillie Suit = A ghillie suit, or yowie suit, is a type of camouflage clothing designed to resemble heavy foliage. Typically, it is a net or cloth garment covered in loose strips of cloth or twine, sometimes even made to look like leaves and twigs. Snipers and hunters may wear a ghillie suit to blend into their surroundings when they feel it is important for them to camouflage and hide themselves from enemies or their targets.

Can you see the guy in this picture? His ghillie suit is working really well!! He is hard to spot.These guys are much easier to see, they are just practicing.

Boys and Guns

Nothing like waking up in the morning and feeling like you have entered special forces training camp right? We aren't the type to promote guns to the boys but for some reason it is in their DNA to want to play with guns, you don't actually have to give them one, they will fashion them out of legos, paper, scrapbooking supplies... really anything that can be pointed can be used as a weapon of mass destruction.

Well DHubby came home from a long TDY and wanted to get a new nerf gun. This one was more for him but he justified it by saying it was for the boys ((I know deep down it was really that HE wanted it)). We already had a couple of the long shot sniper type pistols but Darren had to have... oops I mean he really wanted the boys to have the machine gun.

So one more I wake up and walk into their room and Daddy has put up screens around their "secret base" and Ian is actually wearing a blanket ghillie suit to be the sniper up on the top bunk and Evan is manning the machine gun on the ground. Watch out everyone!! Can you see Evan's blanket ghillie suit too, since big brother had one he had to have one too.

Face Painting

Evan was invited to a birthday party this weekend for one of the little girls he does gymnastics with. He had so much fun. They had a girl there doing characitures and another girl doing face painting and a petting zoo and pony rides!! What a great party. As you can see Evan enjoyed the face painting a lot. She gave him ladybugs which are his favorite and she also gave him a second one that was Lightning McQueen on his leg.

Lost the tooth!!

It has been getting looser and looser every day and Ian has been good about wiggling it and eating crunchy foods. He is always asking for apples and this morning he wanted toast for breakfast and all of a sudden while he was eating he yells "My tooth came out!" He wasn't scared only really excited. So it looks like the tooth fairy will be coming here tonight!!

Cooking Class

Evan took a cooking class at the kids club in my gym this morning. The teacher read them the book the Hungry Little Catapiller and then for each thing the catepiller ate they chopped up some fruit and made a huge fruit salad. Evan of course loved it!! Then they made cute bracelets with licorice whips and fruit loops. He had a great time!!

Over at the ScrapShanty I am hostessing a fun little Layout a Day challenge for the month of September. The goal is to do 30 layouts in 30 days. No prizes just bragging rights for October if you can do it and 30 sets of pictures less in the stack of stuff that still needs to be scrapped.
