Learning how to Canoe

Ian's taking the Canoe Merit Badge coarse at Boy Scout Camp this summer so Darren wanted to get him out in a canoe once before going to camp and show him some stuff.  So we took the beautiful day and rented a canoe!

Evan eventually got tired and wanted to come hang out in the shade.

If anyone knows what this is, please tell me, there were a bunch of them floating in the water by the docks.

Summer Vacation Begins

And one of the things we decided we were going to do since we live near Washington DC, is that we were going to start taking some trips into town and seeing things we wouldn't normally do.

Like an art museum.  Today we went to the Hirshham Museum and Sculpture Garden.

Ian's 11th Birthday!

On Ian's 11th birthday, we had a day full of activities for him.  First we all got up and went down to Alexandria for Ian and Darren to participate in the Color Me Rad 5K.  Aunt Sally paid for the race for Ian as a birthday present.  Ian had a blast during the race, he got back to the finish line completely covered in different colors and full of big smiles!  They finished in 36 minutes.

After we got home and cleaned up, we let Ian open up all his gifts from us and the grandparents.   Closer to dinner time, one of his friends came over to spend the night and they went downstairs and played Pokeman on their DSs and the Wii.  We only really saw them long enough to have some pizza and ice cream birthday cake!
