First Day of School/Meet the Teacher Night

Last friday we went up to school and me the boys' teachers and found their classrooms.  They both got new teachers this year and I think they are going to like them a lot.

Evan is a Perez Piggy this year.  He loves the fun behavior chart she has, instead of plain old stoplight where you try to keep your name in the green all the kids have piggies and they have to try to keep their pig in the barn and not get "lost in the meadow" or "stuck in the muck"!  He has a couple of kids in his class from last year but I'm not worried, I'm sure he will make all kinds of new friends quickly!

Ian is in fourth grade this year and his teacher is Mrs. Rowell.  I love some of the ideas she has for the kids and I can't wait to see them happen!  He has a huge class this year and I hope they get a third fourth grade teacher but at the same time I don't want him to have to change teachers either.

And this morning it was the first day of school.  We took the normal yearly picture in front of the door showing how many fingers for what grade they are starting!

And then another outside the front of the building.  This year the boys are on different sides of the Humphrey's school campus so Ian will be walking to and from school by himself (sigh, he's getting so big).

Ian in line before going in school (yes I still walked over really quick and got a picture of him in line).

Evan with his backpack and lunchbox heading off in the other direction to get to his class.

Evan standing in his line waiting for class to start.

On the first day of school they do a ceremony on the blacktop with all the kids.  The garrison commander and principal all say hello and then they ring bells to ring in the new year.

Fell off the picture taking wagon.

August 12 - close up

August 13 - from a distance

August 16 - what I ate

August 17 - on a shelf
Yes, I know I skipped days 14 & 15 but they were flowers and shoes and I think you all have seen enough of my feet!

Pictures of the boys.

Playing with my new lens and also with some actions that I downloaded from Pioneer Woman.  I like how "colorize" really brings out the blue in Ian's eyes.

August 11 - something fun

It was a beautiful afternoon so the boys and I went out and I played with my new toy and they played with their scooters.

August 10 - something I made

This is a faux chenille blanket that I made from a tutorial I found on the MADE blog.  I loved her blanket so much and I wanted to make one for myself.  It totally took forever and I am not good at sewing straight lines but I love how it looks and feels!!

So weekends aren't great for posting....

But I have stayed up to date on my photos so far.

August 6 - something new
Well for me it is new to have something green stay alive.  And this bloom on it was new to me too!  I've had african violets before but never have they ever bloomed!

August 7 - childhood memory
My little golden books are so antique they are little silver books now.

August 8 - technology
OK taking a picture of my new Mac or new lens is just boring because they are plain but here is the new case for my Mac!

August 4 - favorite color

It's hard for me to pick a favorite color because they all have their uses and I like them all.  So here's my picture for today's prompt!

And now look at the pretty clouds we have today.  Guess we'll try to go to the splish & splash this afternoon and get some use out of our season pass!

August 3 - clouds

OK I cheated a bit because today's forecast for South Korea was cloudy, which means that the sky was gone and there was nothing but hazy boring clouds that cover everything and don't have any definition.  Man I miss those fluffy clouds where you see the blue sky and can pretend to see shapes of animals and stuff in them.  Well anyways, this picture was actually taken on July 29th.  We are in monsoon season and I love the view from our balcony.  We can see the rains coming in over the mountains and it is really neat to watch some days.  So these are my storm clouds rolling in over the mountain.

August 2 - what I wore

My glove and uniform shirt for our softball league.  I'm pretty proud of myself for playing softball, I haven't done anything like that since college.

I'm trying to finish up some of last week's memory planning while I wait to leave to pick Evan up from his Robotics Executive mee...
