EXERCISE EXERCISE

My camera died during this little photo shoot so hopefully some of my friends will have more pictures that I can show you.  They set up an evacuation center in our gyms on post in case the military families over in Japan need to be evacuated back to the USA.  So since most people never actually get to see an evacuation center the post commander invited us all to come over and tour it and see what it looks like.

The boys are laying on 2 of the 405 cots that are laid out on the gym floor.  All together in all the little rooms we were told they have 500 cots.  It was so neat to see them all laying covering the entire floor. 

We also so what else they had set up for the families and servicemembers who come through like the first aid station and the chaplins services center.  They also had a room for people to relax in and watch television complete with games and food provided by the local FRG. 

I hope we never have to see one again first hand but it was really neat to see what it looks like and the guy who gave us a tour was really nice and explained what would happen and it was kind of reassuring to know that if it did happen they have a plan and how it works.

Why you should never trust a groundhog...

This was the view from our balcony Friday morning when we woke up.  It had been a beautiful spring day all week long with highs in the high 50s, Thursday was no exception and we walked outside for exercise but right after school was released the weather shifted on us and by 5:00PM it was trying really hard to snow and eventually won out.  Luckily for Mr Groundhog it was all gone by lunchtime on Friday but it wasn't the way I was wanting to start the first Friday in Spring!!

Evan Starts Piano Lessons

Evan decided he wanted to try to learn how to play the piano like his big brother and since Ms. Stefanie had some openings we thought we would try and see how it went.  He had a great time. 

He learned how to put his fingers on the keys properly.

 He learned what number each finger was labeled.

 He clapped out the beat of quarter notes, half notes and whole notes.

 And was still smiling at the end. 

It was a lot of information for a little guy but he is starting and I am very excited to have two musicians in the family!

I have been scrapping (slowly).

I am still behind for my goal of two layouts a week because these are layouts 10 - 13 and this is what week 11 or 12 of the year?  But I am scrapping slowly but surely using up some of these old kits that I have laying around.

I need to break out the computer and look and see what dates these pictures were taken on and journal that on these but other than that they are done.

The Post with the Airplane

One of Ian's cub scout electives was to learn about airplanes and to make and fly a model airplane.  So boys being boys they took it outside and played with it on a beautiful Sunday afternoon!

See all the "boys" got into the act of playing with the airplane.  At one point Darren had 6-8 boys all around him trying to get their turn to fly the airplane so to scare them all off Darren started telling them all about how the plane gets lift and talking about the science of how an airplane flies!  That got rid of all but Ian and him and they were able to play!

Evan Goes Bowling

Evan's little friend (who is a girl) Sofia had a birthday party at the bowling alley this past weekend.  Evan knew she wanted to have a princess party and that everyone was supposed to dress up so he wore his "fancy" clothes!  The kids had a great time bowling and using the wood floors as their own personal dance floor between bowling.  :)

Flat Stanley Comes to Korea

Ian's teacher from last year sent one of the Flat Stanley's to visit us over here in South Korea.  We took him around with us for a week and took some pictures and before we sent him back to sunny warm Texas Ian drew him up a set of Hanbok clothing to wear for the trip home.

I was in charge of the challenge this week at Paper Pushers so I made up another recipe challenge.  It involved...

1) fussy cutting something - I did butterflies

2) popping something with pop dots or extra chipboard

3) a big title

4) something metal

I used the 2008 Looking Glass kit from Studio Calico with my Quickutz Chemistry dies for the title and a little Making Memories metal backpack from a long long time ago!
