The Island Cabinets are IN!!

The look pretty good too!! I can't wait to do the rest of the kitchen and then get the counters done. Plus I LOVE having the drawers instead of cabinets because it puts everything right at your fingertips!!

Eventually my kitchen will be updated and beautiful.

This weekend we started work on replacing the kitchen cabinets in the island. Eventually we will do them all but I know we can get this project done in a weekend and I won't be without a kitchen for weeks on end.

Here are some pictures of the progress.

Look at all the wasted space.

They actually came out really easy (KNOCK ON WOOD).

All gone, you can see why we have to keep the same footprint, because we don't want to replace the tile and they don't make it anymore.

The new ones going in. See my cool lazy susan in the corner to make it so that we can use all the space!!

It was getting dark so you can't see the wood color really well but it is a nice dark oak. We will get the last drawers in tomorrow and the handles on it all. Then we can put the countertop back on until the other side is all done and then have the granite guys come out!!

1st Day of the Second Grade

Here are pictures of Ian on his first day of second grade. One with his teacher, who is wearing his favorite color (aka = camouflage) and then just a couple of his outside the front door of the house!!

He had a great first day and talked nonstop on the way home from school about who was in his class and what they had done during summer vacation. We took him out to see the movie GI Joe after the first day of school as a special treat and I have to say he was in hog heaven!!

ARGH (that's pirate speak not frustration)

We had quite the pirate filled weekend on Saturday. First Ian had his Raingutter Regatta with his cub scout pack. He did a great job, he took 2nd place in the whole pack!!

Meanwhile, Evan also had his own pirate stuff going on. His little friend had his 5th birthday party and it was a pirate theme. There was a pinata and pin the patch on the pirate, there was a plank to walk and lots of candy!! And in the end, Evan walked away with his very own pirate sword!!

Birthday Lunch with Friends

Our friends got home from their vacation just in time for us to celebrate Anna's 5th birthday with them at a quick lunch at Chili's. The kids had a great time seeing each other and the boys totally missed their pool and gym buddies.

Pizza Party and some cards

The boys were invited to a pizza party tonight for one of the little boys that Ian goes to school with. It was a fun party. I enjoyed getting to chat with the moms while the kids played. Here are the boys once they slowed down long enough to eat.

And then today I made some cards for a couple of birthday card challenges at ScrapAttack Scrapbooking. This first one was for the "use pastel colors on a card" challenge. I am not good with pastels, these are as pastelly as I get.
And this second one was a challenge to "use candles" on a birthday card. I made this one really quick so that Ian had a card to give his friend at the party.

Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs

Today I took the boys to see the movie Ice Age 3. Evan informed me that it was loud and he didn't like dinosaurs but that didn't stop him from laughing at them in the movie. I really enjoyed this movie, think it was my favorite of the three movies. This is the boys, eating their kids meals in the theater. Since daddy wasn't with us we sat up in the very back row like they are always begging to do. Luckily it was in the smallest theater so we weren't so far away from the screen still.
