Swine Flu Day 4

Today the boys had a friend over in the morning for a little bit while her mom did some work. The boys played on the computer with her, showing her the Lego site and games online. Then they all went out into the backyard to play for a bit. Then we made suncatchers out of shrinky dinks and had some lunch.

The boys both had dentist appointments today after she left. Ian had a panorex since he still gagged on the little bite wings. That kid has some huge teeth in his head!! Both of them did good at their dentist appointment and the dentist let them go to the treasure box afterward (which they love). The each picked out a generic GI Joe soldier. Which after we got prompted bringing out all the tanks to play with!!

Looks like 1PM on Friday we may find out if we can go back to school next week or not!!

Swine Flu Day 3

Well we had a little scare this morning. Both the boys woke up puking so I took them to the doctor, just to be safe. We don't have the flu not even close but just a stomach bug. Most likely they both ate something that made them not feel so good.

So after we got back from the doctor we put our jammies back on and played and laid around letting their tummies get better.

Swine Flu Day 2

I had a dentist appointment today so I was luckily enough that my friend Elise could watch the boys. She and her girls set up stations of things to do for them today. They made chocolate chip cookies and fruit kabobs. Made snow and finger painted. The boys always love going over to their house.
Thanks for taking some pictures Elise!!

And after a hard day of not doing anything...

Nothing beats a bubble bath!

Swine Flu Day 1

Well our school district decided to close the doors for the week to see if they could contain the whole swine flu thing. I can't really decide if I am happy about it or not. On one hand it was great getting to sleep in this morning and I love having the boys home with me because they are good kids and play really well together. But on the other hand, what's this going to do to the start of my summer vacation. Notice I say "MY", I am ready for summer to start. I can't wait to sit in the pool all afternoon after working out and letting the kids play. I am ready to sleep in in the mornings and not have to worry about being anywhere I don't want to be.

Well at least for this week we get to practice summer vacation. Today we slept in, stayed in our jammies until noon, cooked and watched TV, played some video games. Read stories, did math (don't want to get out of practice for the 8s and 9s next week) and watched the rain come down.

I got some scrapping done and the boys covered the house in action figures and legos!!

Viva Fiesta!!

Battle of the Flowers Parade First Grade style!! Ian's school did their own Fiesta parade today and each first grader got to make a parade float to walk through the school. They didn't give any direction on theme for the floats just that the kids had to make them themselves.

Ian decided on a soccer themed float. He and Darren built the base and I helped him make his shoebox goal. He wore his old soccer uniform and was very happy of his float!!

Real Quick

Got some scrapping done today. Felt good to be creative. This first one took awhile. It has been sitting on my desk all in pieces for a couple of days, I had an idea for it but had a hard time getting the energy up to start cutting. It is based on a Scrapbook Play challenge at ScrapAttack.com. I had to "think spring" and base my layout on something springy. I had found this picture of a blue bird with an orange chest sitting in a green tree on a brown branch. The colors worked well with the pictures. I used up some random stuff out of a couple of different Studio Calico kits. Funny how I find that combining them is easier for me. Then this morning I decided to try the birthday card challenge at ScrapAttack.com too. It was quite di"stressing" for me because we had to distress our card three different ways and then make our own embellishment. I inked, I tore and I sanded and then I pieced together this candle from some scraps that were ready for the trash can. And the saying came off a stamp I had found awhile back and didn't buy. Now I am thinking that I should have because it was a cute saying.
Thanks for looking! :)

What Made My Back Hurt

We actually put some color in the front of the house. After 2 years we finally did something with the front flower bed. We made it go around the side of the house too. The boys helped me pick out all the flowers. And I really like its random look with lots of color. Darren got to put in his sprinkle system that he found on clearence and was so happy when it finally worked.

Still need some more rock, but that can wait until tomorrow when I can stand up enough to walk into the home improvement store. :)

Going Camping

We took the tent out of storage and set it up outside to make sure that it was all ok because EVENTUALLY we will be going camping with the cub scouts. The boys loved playing in the tent on Saturday.

Last Week

Well after the Easter Bunny came we hid all his eggs since it dried up outside and the boys hunted for eggs in the backyard.

We had Easter dinner with the Bakers. The boys got to hunt for eggs with the girls in their backyard. We had a MOMS Club Open House at the Park. We drank juice, swang on the swings (or is that swung?) and played on the bridge.

No wonder I am tired.

She is one of those people who will bring tears to your eyes she can sing so well!! I only wish I could sing 1/2 as good as her!!

Another Thomas Layout

This layout is for another round of Scrapbook Play at ScrapAttack.com. This one was to use a number in your title. The PP and some of the embellishements come from a combination of Studio Calico kits. The half circles are actually the back of a coupon that was in one of the kits. And the graph paper is a stamp that I had bought a long while back at Hobby Lobby.

The EASTER BUNNY CAME

Well the Easter Bunny came. Of course he was going to come, the boys have been pretty good. They woke up at 7:10AM and came into the room to wake us up. I don't think they remembered that there were going to be gifts downstairs because Evan went right back into his room to play with his toys. But we told them to come downstairs and have some cereal. Evan stood there in the kitchen talking to Darren and telling him what he wanted to make out of his legos today and didn't even notice all this sitting on the table until Daddy told him to go sit down at the table and he would get him some cereal. As soon as he turned around he gasped and yelled, "The Easter Bunny brought me the Crystal Sweeper" ((for you non-lego maniacs that's the really big box in the back)). Ian at this time is still not downstairs because he is really wanting to play more than eat so Evan goes off running to find him. I don't think he believed his brother about what was downstairs because when he came to the table he gasped too. ((maybe they didn't think they were that good?)) So all in all it was kind of cute getting to see them so surprised to see just what they wanted for Easter. ((we decided the Easter Bunny wouldn't bring a lot of little stuff but the last 2 Power Miner Lego sets that they really wanted and the movie Bolt that they wanted to see again too))
Checking out the loot. There was also a large bag of easter eggs to hide at a later time since it was raining outside. The bunny left a note that Daddy and Mommy should hide them for them when it is dry outside because the bunny didn't want Beaker to eat their eggs on them. The boys were ok with that. Especially since breakfast was delayed and they broke into the lego boxes with Daddy to build them. All while watching the rest of the Transformers movie we started last night. :)
Have to get one cute shot with the goodies!!

Ian Scraps!!

Ian had to make a scrapbook for cub scouts to earn his tiger cub badge so we worked on it this weekend. He had to make a scrapbook about his family and we tried to double up and also use it to get his collections beltloop so his scrapbook is all about his Dad, his Brother and his love of Star Wars. He helped take the pictures and I helped him pick out some papers from my stash and cut them to size and then he glued his pictures down and journaled about them.
Journaling is as hard for him as it is for me I think!!
Happy because he is on the last page finally!!

Roxaboxen

We took the boys to see the play Roxaboxen. I wasn't really sure what it was going to be about because we got the book from the library and there isn't any dialogue in the book so I was worried about how they would make it into an hour long play. They did a great job with it though, there is actually a place called Roxaboxen in Yuma AZ and now there stands a park in it's honor. Sounds like a cool place to visit and the play brought back lots of memories of play in the empty lots near my own house when I was little, something that my kids never get to do and probably won't because these days you can't let little kids just run off by themselves to play like my parents did when I was little. Here are the boys in our prized awesome seats in the balcony where they like to sit. Thought we would try out the new camera and get a picture while waiting for Daddy to bring back snacks. The scenery on the stage really looked just like the pictures in the book. Ian even noticed that some of the actors were the same actors as in Junie B Jones that we went to here a couple of months ago. That was cute.

This is my little Easter/Mother's Day present too. I love my big huge camera but lately I have been with the boys places and haven't had my camera because it is just way too big to stick in my purse so Darren got me this and it is so cute and small and has so many fun features like a smile detector!! Oh and it's blue!!!

Big Faker?

This first layout is based on a sketch by Carrie at the ScrapShanty and it also features this really cute journaling tag by Shabby Chic Crafts that I won from ScrapAttack. It also uses more than 3 different manufacturers PP for a challenge at ScrapAttack for their Scrapbook Play challenge. And speaking of Scrapbook Play, I saw this challenge first at ScrapAttack in their Scrapbook Play challenge center. I had made that layout about the tattoos using these papers and stickers and for the challenge I used my scraps to make a card and a tag.

Robbed by a Rabbit

All Evan could talk about today was visiting the Easter Bunny. We got there and he freaked out. this was as close as I could get him to the rabbit (and he is standing about 2 feet in front of him). Plus why oh why are those darned pictures so expensive? It isn't like it is the best photo in the world. The yearly pictures I have done of the boys from the Picture People aren't as expensive as this photo was. :( Oh well, it isn't great but it is my boys this year with the Easter Bunny. They got these ears (LOL part of the price of the picture you know) and I tried to get a good picture of them together and man it was like pulling teeth. How hard is it to look at the camera? I mean I am looking at them I can tell when they aren't looking back!!
Well happy early Easter from my little bunnies.

How the kids feel about TATTOOS

As you can see, Evan isn't so much a fan of them. Or at least he wasn't back in 2006.

Based on an Ad Challenge at the ScrapShanty.
