I got a chance to go to the zoo with my friend Michelle and see the baby Panda. It was a beautiful day for walking through the zoo and we explored places I hadn't seen before (like the Asian small clawed otters).
We were trying to get a picture of us with the baby panda, you can kind of see her in the bare tree behind us in these two pics.
We learned that baby pandas spend a lot of time up in trees while their moms are off hunting during the day. And that is where she spent her whole time while we were there. The one volunteer said that they actually stopped feeding the mom in the late afternoon until she coaxes her baby down out of the tree because the zoo staff is scheduled to leave at 6PM and it was taking until 8 or 9PM to coax her down out of the tree. She is almost old enough that they can start trying to coax her down with Kyro syrup.
