I guess I should have said "We're Moving"

Well I guess I was waiting to make sure because you know the military sometimes likes to change their minds and stuff (you know and like 2 months before you move to the south they like to say things like "Hey wouldn't it be great if we moved you to Alaska instead?" just to turn around and send you to Texas). So I was kind of waiting to make sure it was really going to happen before I started telling everyone. But I guess it is going to happen.

We are moving to South Korea. It is known as The Land of the Morning Calm. Kind of makes you wonder what happens after lunch. *wink*
I can't say that I am not nervous, I am but I am also really excited because it is going to be quite the adventure. How many people get to go to that part of the world and live and travel? Believe me, you will see lots of pictures here!! The boys are also very excited. I am really blessed and lucky to have kids who adapt to change so well!! They are really excited to see Korea and also to meet new people and start a new school. School will be different, it will be much smaller than it is here in Texas but they will go to school on post. Anyways, here is a map of the other side of the world, Korea is much farther north than Texas so we will see snow again!
We aren't going to Seoul. We are going a little farther south to a base called Camp Humphreys. Darren will be in charge of the design and construction of the new hospital they are building on post. He is excited about the project! If you can see on this map a town south of Seoul called Pyeongtaek, Camp Humphreys is south of that near a tiny town called An-Jung Ri.
So right now we are waiting on passports and visas, they should all be here by the beginning of May. We ship are new truck over the middle of May (still not sure on the logistics of how he is getting back and forth to work because I can't walk all the places I need to be every day) and they come to pack us up at the end of May. We leave middle of June after we visit family.

Right now I have been busily trying to get loose ends tied up on things that I can do since I like to control stuff and I can't on a lot of things with this move. I have been getting kids physicals and stuff for school once we get there so I don't have to try to move to a new country and get the kids to the doctor all in the same month. Trying to sift through stuff at the house and figure out what I can live without for 2 to 3 years because we can't take everything. It is enough to leave you sleepless at night (well okay for me it is because I know my better half is sleeping just fine). There are going to be a lot of things that I am going to miss starting with friends and conveniences like Walmart being right down the street and open 24 hours. But we will adapt.

Last of Soccer

We have other things going on this month so this was Ian's last soccer game (April 10th). It is sad that we are leaving and he won't be on the Hawks team anymore because they are really getting what they are supposed to be doing together.

New Car

Say goodbye to the old brown truck and say hello to the new cute little truck that will come with us overseas. It's a 2006 Ford Escape.

Scrapping

I did this layout for a challenge at ScrapAttack Scrapbooking's Around the World Tour. This one is the Japan challenge. I had to pick out different foods and then I was given my list of scrappy items to use. I had to use 1 picture, 4 patterned papers, I had to sew and hand write my journaling. I had to use chipboard and rick rack and something on my layout had to be folded.

This layout is based on a sketch from Creative Scrappers. It is sketch #99.

Spring Soccer Pictures 2010

I was asked to take the team photos this year for soccer. I figured I would give it a try, I can't do worse than the professional pictures I have seen from the league. Not everyone made it to practice yesterday so this was kind of my practice too. Here is Ian's U8 team the Hawks with their Coach Chris.
I took some of Ian first before I did the other kids. I think I will redo his because once I did his and saw them I adjusted and the rest of the teams pictures turned out a little better with less of the distracting background seen. But here are his practice photos.

Patterson's Pizzeria Reading Restaurant

At Ian's school the second graders always put on a Reading Restaurant to show off their reading skills to the parents. It was so cute. Ian's classroom was all decorated like an Italian restaurant. The kids made menus and even colored flowers to give us as we left.

More Easter Pics

Pink cupcakes!! Or should I say Pinkalious Cupcakes!!
And as for dying eggs this year we decided to use the food coloring markers that I had on some hard boiled eggs. It was fun but very messy! Just FYI = they don't dry so the next day you will still get stuff all over your hands!!

I'm pretty sure we were the only ones there NOT in PINK!

The play at the Children's Theater was PINKALICIOUS, a rambunctious musical about a little girl who loves PINK! Even thought it was a very pink play, the boys enjoyed themselves a lot. Both of them had read the story before we went so they knew what they were in store for.

And to balance out all the pink, we had blue sour candies while watching!! ;)

Egg Hunting at Preschool

The preschoolers got to celebrate the season with an egg hunt today! They all brought their baskets and the parents hid the eggs in a field near the school. Here is the whole class lined up waiting patiently!
