Busch Gardens - Williamsburg

Took off for a little holiday and used our free military passes to Busch Gardens.  Ian and Darren rode all the roller coasters and Evan and I did the tame ones!  We rode the water rides first and spent most of the day wet which helped keep us cool.

Corpse Flower Trip

We took a trip into DC with some friends via metro to visit the botanical gardens.  The Corpse Flower was blooming.  We got lucky though and the stinky-ness ended yesterday!!

On the way to lunch we cut through the art museum, to cool off and get to the other side.  We stopped at the big fountain in the middle to look at the statue.

We had lunch at the Old Post Office and then went up to the bell tower to see the views.  It was so nice up there with the breeze.

Inside the Old Post Office, riding the elevator down.

We also stopped in the National History Museum.  The boys got a chance to pretend to be the President.

Darth Evan

Trying something new and giving myself an hour to scrap in the morning with 10 minutes at the start to get stuff together.  This is what I came up with this morning.

Pics from Boy Scout Camp

Ian went to his first Boy Scout Camp at Camp Sinoquipe in Pennsylvania over the week of the 4th of July.  It rained almost the entire time and he complained that nothing was ever dry.  I ended up sending dry shorts, underwear, towels and stuff with his Dad when he came down to do some things at the office on Wednesday back up to them.  After the initial shock of what camp was like and getting over the fear of spiders in his tent, he had a great time.  But he did call me on Monday night to ask me to drive up and get him because Dad wouldn't bring him home.  He ended up being one of the honor scouts and getting voted Most Scout Spirit by his troop and he earned Swimming, Canoeing, Chess and Public Speaking merit badges.  Not too shabby for his first time at camp!

Yes I Still Scrapbook

I can honestly say, I haven't bought any scrapbooking supplies in about a year with the exception of a new adhesive gun and more adhesive.  I have so much stuff it is overwhelming and that's after I got rid of a bunch of stuff.  I wish I had scrapping friends closer who really needed my hand-me-downs because then I could get rid of some of my stuff because I really hate throwing things away.  If you need a box of flowers send me a message, I can hook you up!!

Well I remember when I used to belong to scrapbooking message boards and groups and I used to scrap everyday.  Then we moved overseas and I just kind of got out of practice I think.  It's been a year since we moved back and I am really trying to get back into practice but it is going to take some time.

Here are a few layouts that I did today.  The first one sat on my desk partially finished for a good 3 months.  I had to dust it, that's bad!!

The second one is a horrible picture but I think you'll get the jist of it without me retaking the picture.  (Sorry it is raining here again and I don't have any sunshine to take pictures in.)  The third one I actually pulled out my old wishblade and made a cut for the layout.  I like how colorful it is!

Already July.

I can't believe it is already July, where has the time gone.  Didn't we just get out of school?  Didn't I just have a birthday?  Looking at my calendar, it feels like summer vacation is already half over and I haven't even gotten to sleep in yet.

Last week, well first off... I turned 40.  There was no celebrations, in fact, I think I went to bed at 9PM. I was so tired from the first day of Cub Scout Day Camp.  I taught leather working in a classroom, so for 6 hours I hears 14 mallets banging on plastic camp tables.  The week was really busy and both Evan and I were exhausted by the end of each day.  I was very happy to see Friday come and go.

This week, Ian and Darren are off at Boy Scout Camp.  Ian was nervous about it, hopefully just fear of the unknown but last night I got a call at 11PM from him crying because he missed me so much.  I'm not sure how much of that was true because when I talked to him after dinner he went on and on about how much he loved his merit badge classes and getting to play volleyball (his team lost against the big kids 6-11 but still for their first time playing together..).  Well my hubby called me this morning and I got to talk to Ian for a few minutes and it sounds like he is feeling better this morning, let's just hope that tonight he can get to sleep at a decent time because I know my kids and if they don't get their sleep they can be cranky.

Well here are some pictures from the Boy Scout Court of Honor that we had last weekend before leaving for camp.  Ian got a patch for hiking 10 miles on the Alonzo Stag hike and also his Tenderfoot rank.

Say a little prayer for him (and his worrywart mom), I hope that he has lots of fun at camp and really loves it because I know he has been talking about going to Boy Scout camp for years and I would hate for him to not enjoy himself!

I'm trying to finish up some of last week's memory planning while I wait to leave to pick Evan up from his Robotics Executive mee...
