Pools Open!!

And Ian successfully got his orange and then his green band today by swimming the whole length of the pool by himself. So now he can basically go anywhere in the pool all by himself and down the big slide.

More pictures from the last day of school.

And then after school we went with some friends to their neighborhood pool and hung out for a couple of hours (by the way -- bad mom here forgot to put sunscreen on the boys faces. got everything but their noses and cheeks and Ian is totally sunburned). Most of their school was there in the pool with them so Ian had lots of friends to play with and was so totally comfortable in the pool.
Photobucket
Evan wanted to wear his life vest, which was fine by me since their pool doesn't have a shallow spot where he could reach.
Photobucket
What really stunned me was Evan practicing his big arms and kicks in the pool with his life vest on!!

Last Day of First Grade

Can you tell he is excited about the last day of school? Don't get me wrong, he will miss school but he is also ready for spending summer days at the pool and playing video games and getting to stay up a little later and sleep in in the mornings (at least mom is hoping for that last one.)!! Here he is on the last day of first grade!!

And here he is saying that he is ready for second grade!!

The graduation of the Yellow/Blue Blur

Do any of you watch the TV show Smallville? Well on the show Clark Kent gets his picture taken by Jimmy when he is doing good and it only shows this red/blue blur so they start calling the "superhero" the Red/Blue Blur.

Well I have my own blur. He is the Yellow/Blue Blur. And even after explaining to him beforehand that he shouldn't run across the stage but stop, shake Ms. Miller's hand and LOOK FOR ME SO I CAN TAKE HIS PICTURE, he still skipped quickly and happily across the stage.

Oh well at least I know it is him. He was honored by having it announced that he got Outstanding in both Math and Reading which I am very proud of him for! Here are some pictures...

No Front Teeth

We had quite the weekend. Ian's front tooth has been loose for quite awhile and finally friday night while we were eating pizza it got stuck in the crust and fell out. Then while we were camping the other one became loose and it fell out when we got back home. So now he talks a little funny and makes this cute whistling noise when he talks.

Cub Scout Adventures

We went to the scout camp this weekend in town for Ian's Cub Scout Family Campout. This is the first time the boys have camped outside and they loved it. They had activities planned for all day Saturday morning.

We started off learning how to use a compass and following a compass course.

After that we went on a nature hike and learned about 20 different native Texas plants. We also saw some deer!

I love this picture even though it is a bit blurry since I was chasing them down. It reminded me of the movie Stand By Me as they were all running down the trails.

Next came craft time. They learned how to read Native American picto-grams and then made Indian head dresses and drew their own picto-grams on them. Ian's was all about a hunter who finds a platypus, kills the platypus and brings it home. Evan, well Evan wasn't excited about making a hat since he doesn't like to wear hats. His picto-gram was just a guy goes home.
Photobucket
I did get Evan to put the head dress on long enough to take a picture.

After eating some lunch we met out on the field and shot our homemade bottle rockets off. It was really cool. Ian's went the highest I think and he was even nice enough to let his little brother try using it too.

After a play in their pool and a really good dinner we had campfire. This is when they got their awards and also crossed over to their next rank.
Evan wanted his picture taken with Daddy.

The next morning when we woke up the kids wanted to check out this little hut made out of sticks that was made near where we pitched out tent. Pretty cool! Luckily no snakes!!

Art Show and Graduation

Here is the sculpture that Evan has been working on for months now in secret in his class room. He was so excited to get to show it to us tonight at the art show at school. ((if you ask, he will tell you all about this and what everything on it is))After the art show they sang Jesus Loves Me and I was so proud because Evan knew most of the signs too!!
Evan receiving his certificate to move from the Ladybug class to the Butterfly class next year!!
Evan with the two greatest teachers a four year old could ever wish for!!! I thank these two for so much, they have the patience of saints and love to teach!! And Evan loves their science experiments!!

He's a LADYBUG for one more day!!!

Evan has talked about being a ladybug since Ian was in Kindergarten and we were lucky that Evan got to be a ladybug at Preschool!!!

The first batch of Last Day of Preschool pictures.

Taken at the front door as we get ready for school.

Swimming Lessons

Pictures of the boys at swimming lessons. They have both gotten very confident in the water. Evan has really started to trust his instructor a lot in the last couple of weeks and he has him diving into the water will little help these days.

Ian eagerly awaiting his turn to dive in.
At least his dives are improving, they aren't just complete belly flops that used to make even me hurt.
Ian has a VERY strong breast stroke. Probably has something to do with those long arms and legs!!
