Just an update on Darren. He went in on Tuesday and his white blood count was too low to start up the second round of treatments. So they gave him a shot to help him increase his white blood cells and let me tell you he now knows what childbirth or kidney stones feels like. He was in so much pain. They failed to tell him that making white blood cells quickly hurts A LOT! When he saw the doctor the next day and asked about the bone pain side effect, the doctor said that only 1.7% of Koreans ever experience that side effect so he didn't mention it. Well I guess Darren is part of the minority. They rechecked his white blood cell count and in 18 hours he went from being REALLY LOW (250) to being perfectly normal again (3000+). The doctor then told him when he saw his results that normally most people require at least 2 or 3 of these shots before they see those kinds of numbers. Explains why only 1.7% of them feel any pain too right?
So anyways to make a long story short, he is doing better. Pain is almost gone and luckily they aren't stingy with the pain meds when it was hurting. He will start up his second round of chemo on next Tuesday! Happy Lunar New Year to Darren!!
