Halloween Costumes

It's Halloween and that means costumes!!! My boys both knew exactly what they wanted to be at the beginning of the month. Evan wanted to get the Bumblebee Transformer costume and he looked so cute because it fit him like a glove and Ian wanted to be a soldier, wearing Daddy's old BDUs. That is the costume that I made. I took all Darren's brown BDUs apart and used them as the fabric for my little soldier costume for Ian. He looked so cute it in and I got lots of compliments about all his little patches and stuff!!
At Ian's school they had their storybook parade and Evan sat with the second graders in the gym to watch the parade. Each child got to wear their costume as long as they brought a book to match their costume. He picked his Avengers comic book that the Army made because it had soldiers in it.
After school we invited Ian's best friend and his mom to come over and hang out with us. We had some dinner and then took the kids trick or treating in the neighborhood. After it got really dark and the kids were tired of walking we came back home and hung out in the front yard with our big bowl of candy and some glow sticks. The kids had a great time flagging other kids down with their glow sticks and handing out candy.

End of the Season Party

Last night was Ian's end of the season soccer party. Since we practice at the park we just always meet back up at the park with kind of a pot luck little picnic. It is a lot of fun and the kids are always happy to get to play on the playground equipment since all season long we yell at them to get back on the field and us parents just sit around in chairs and chit-chat while coach cooks hot dogs on the grill. Here are a couple of pictures from this year. Coach said if anyone was to watch the Olympics in the future watch out for Ian because he is going to gold medal in the sport of SPEED WALKING!! We need to work on running before our next season because Ian really doesn't run, he speed walks!!

GO HAWKS!!!!!
Ian and his medal and trophy!!

It's that time of the year again.

In the mail came the Toy's R Us Wish List book and Evan has been hooked on "reading" it all morning. Laying on the couching I can hear him yelling, I want Santa to bring me this or that. Every once in awhile he will run over to me to show me something EXTRA special.
I haven't been taking as many pictures lately for some reason so I thought I would snap a few of him and his book.

Jean Jacket

Isn't this the cutest jacket? Darren and I went through the boys clothes in their closets and cleaned out a bunch of stuff. I don't know where it all comes from but they both have way too much clothes!! We went through the coats and stuff too and looks like Ian will need a new winter-ish coat but Evan is covered. I also found this super cute brand new Levi Jean Jacket that I think one of our neighbors had given us because it didn't fit their little boy. Well it finally fits Evan and it is so stinking cute!!

I really should be sewing...

but my scrapping supplies have been calling from downstairs. I got a new set of Stampin Up stamps and I have been itching to play with them. Mel did this card challenge couple of weeks ago at the ScrapShanty and I love the color combination to I had to give it a try since it worked perfect for my new stamps.
The set of stamps I used was called Season of Friendship by Stampin Up! and from it I used the tree trunk, the birdie and the saying on the inside. I also used my Cookie Cutter Circles Set from Quickutz on my Revolution and one last new toy was the Fiskar's embossing pattern for the white background. You can barely see it in this bottom picture but the white has a woodgrain pattern to it.

School Picture 2008

Ian's pictures came back today. Check out that smile, so proud of his missing tooth. Love how the blue brings out his blue eyes. He's definitely a keeper!!

It's not like we haven't been doing ANYTHING...

We have just been really busy it seems like here and the last thing on my mind has been blogging. But at least I have been catching the memories, I just finally found my card reader again and I can download pictures off my cameras.

Here are some of the highlights.

Ian got his pictures back from soccer pictures. I was really scared as to how this was going to turn out since most of his smiles these days are used to show off his missing teeth. Talk about game face look!! But this one turned out pretty darned cute! ((SPEAKING OF TEETH -- we went to the dentist yesterday and not only are the front two adult teeth coming in but 3 of his adult molars somehow slipped by us and are in))

We took the boys to a pumpkin patch one weekend too. Seems weird to be at a pumpkin patch with shorts and sleeveless t shirts on but I think they had fun. Even if when you look at all the pictures and they are scouling at me because and I quote "the sun is in our eyes". Insert an eyeroll from me here because this picture was taken in the shade. I just don't think I will many pictures of them together both looking at the camera and smiling at the same time for awhile.

Evan has been playing with the MOMS Club kids a lot this month. One day we met up at a park and made bird feeders. That was a fun outing.

And have I mentioned soccer. We have our last game this Friday night and it will be dark outside, should be a totally different experience for the kids to play under the lights. Darren gets to coach the game too since Coach Chris and his son will be gone.

Fall Cleaning

I don't know why but we never seem to spring clean around here as much as we do fall cleaning. This week hubby has been busy working on replacing boards and sanding the deck to make it look really nice. Then we bought some stain and sealer and finished up the job yesterday. Then today we took the ceiling fan out there down and cleaned it off and cleaned out the wasp's nest that we knew was probably in there. But here are some pictures of us working outside this weekend.

Don't worry as you can see we have protection while we are outside working!!!

Tagged and nothing better to post about.

I was tagged by Mary so I'd better do it because I would hate for bad tag luck to hit me or something equally awful!!

The "Rules":
* link to the person who tagged you
* list 6 random things about yourself
* tag 6 new people
* let each tagged person know they've been tagged by posting a comment on their blog
* link to the 6 people you've tagged
* and let the person who tagged you know that you posted

Random Thing #1:
I like cinnamon chewing gum. It helps me not eat other things. There are packs of it laying all over the house.

Random Thing #2:
I don't like wearing shoes. I would rather be in stocking feet or barefoot. My feet just feel to constricted when I have shoes on.

Random Thing #3:
That being said about the shoes, I can't walk barefoot in the grass. I have pansy feet that don't like sharp grass (although I do have to say down here in Texas we have some nice soft grass so I am learning to deal with it).

Random Thing #4:
I am a packrat. I keep things and I form sentimental attachments to things that I don't need to hang onto. I have a very hard time parting with things.

Random Thing #5:
I like hard rock music. Don't get me wrong I also listen to easy listening, country, classical, top 40, childrens, punk, alternative but I really have a thing for old 80s hair bands.

Random Thing #6:
I sleep with one foot sticking out from under the covers. It is kind of like my snorkle. I need to breathe while sleeping and it helps me regulate my temperature.

My tagged people:
Ok I am going to cheat here and not follow the rules so hopefully just doing the tag will keep the tag gods at bay and I won't be cursed with bad internet connections or anything like that. Let's just say if you are reading my blog and you yourself have nothing to blog about today -- CONSIDER YOURSELF TAGGED!!

Digital Weekend

So this weekend I went to a scrapbooking Bed & Breakfast called Cornerstone Memories in Tipton IN. I didn't bring any of my paper supplies because my goal was to work on creating one of those Shutterfly books for my oldest son's preschool and kindergarten books. Well I got 14 pages done out of 20 for the preschool book done. Here they are. I will have to come back and post the credits after I drop the kids off at school and hit the gym.

I'm trying to finish up some of last week's memory planning while I wait to leave to pick Evan up from his Robotics Executive mee...
