Then today we took the boys to the air show over at Randolph Air Force Base. They loved it, Ian got to help one of the Golden Knights pack his parachute and may be in tomorrow's newspaper because the newspaper reporter took his picture helping the Golden Knight "CK" and interviewed Ian about whether he wanted to be in the army or the air force when he grows up. He also got to try on one of the Army's football team jersey and helmet. And he got his picture taken with Timmy wearing the football gear!

Timmy the Turtle Weekend
This weekend Ian got to be the first to bring Timmy the Turtle home to take care of. It is really a cute little exercise for them to do in Kindergarten. They get to take Timmy home and have him do things with them during the weekend and then they have to write in Timmy's journal what they did. Well being a scrapbooker I decided to add pictures to Ian's journal. Here is Ian and Timmy at my friend's little girl's last soccer game (Ian is all signed up for spring soccer by the way too -- I am offically going to become a soccer mom!!).

Pictures from October
Just some misc pictures from October that I took but didn't share on my blog. I have a friend who is so good about posting pictures from each day and my goal this month is to try to do that at least every other day.
The kids at the children's carnival at one of the places that has a preschool in the area. Ian and Evan with some of their friends (yes Evan is in the picture, he just didn't want to sit LOL).
Ian getting his face painted at the carnival.
I took Evan to visit the deer in the Quad over on Fort Sam Houston with my friend and Evan's "girlfriend". The kids were totally not afraid of the deer and it was so cool how they would eat right out of their hands.
Ian got invited to a halloween party at an art studio. The artist made him a light saber out of some paper towel rolls. Notice Ian is the only boy, he loved it!!!
Halloween night, the boys went trick or treating around the neighborhood while mommy stayed home and passed out candy and later that night mommy's friend and her girls came over to help.
Thanks for looking, I promise to post more pictures on the day that I take them this month!!

Happy Halloween

Just wanted to say Happy Halloween and show off the boys Halloween costumes. Had a pretty fun day. I volunteered at Ian's school and helped his teacher make pumpkin shakes. They were super easy to make and tasted much better than I thought I pumpkin shake would taste. Here's the recipe...
5 scoops of vanilla ice cream
5 spoonfulls of pumpkin pie filling
5 splashes of milk
1 dash of cinnamon
Blend it all up and drink up. The kids really liked it and most of them wanted seconds (and thirds and fourths).
Then later on in the afternoon we went back to Ian's school to see his pumpkin patch play. Ian was the pumpkin. It was really cute but I felt bad because Evan threw a fit during the middle of it and most of the kids in the play were very soft spoken to start with, so I feel bad for any moms and dads video taping because they probably got a lot of Evan screaming in part of it.

Tagged Again by Catherine This Time

I was tagged this time by Catherine and it is the infamous 7 unusal facts about yourself tag!! I am not sure what I wrote last time I did this one so if I get a duplicate just chalk it up to there aren't that many things that are unusal about me.
1. Yes, I wore my son's storm trooper helmet this weekend and LET myself be photographed wearing it. That has to hit somewhere on the odd side of this meter right?
2. I have a nasty habit of picking at hang nails on my fingers. I used to bite my nails but I got myself to stop but now if I see a little bit of skin hanging off one I can't stop picking at it. OK sorry if that is TMI!!
3. Ian's kindergarten teacher makes me feel like I am in kindergarten myself. She is the sweetest person in the whole and has never done anything to intimidate me but when I get around her I just feel like I need to be on my best behavior.
4. My least favorite color is purple. My favorite colors are blue, green, red, yellow. Don't ask me where orange falls on this list.
5. I hated eating hot lunch in school as a kid. I am not a picky eater or anything but for some reason the REAL HOMEMADE lunch at my catholic school just wasn't very good. I'd rather have peanut butter and jelly. But please no BOLOGNA!!! I hate bologna.
6. I think my feet are my best feature on my body. They are the only part of me that I think looks good. Plus they are the only part of my body that I can shop for anywhere and not need to go to a plus size store and then still have to take the item to a seamstress or alter it myself.
7. If I could be more like anyone in the world, I would have to pick Martha Stewart. Granted I know a lot of it is money but I really wish I had that woman's creative genius!!
OK so now to pick some people to tag....
Anita (since I missed you yesterday but feel free to do it anyway)
Melanie (since I know you have already been tagged and you can kind of kill 2 birds with one stone)

Katie J tagged me!!
I like this one it is different from other ones I have been tagged with before. Thanks Katie J!!!
What you are supposed to do in a nutshell since I didn't copy the directions is write a little "where were you 10/20/30 years ago on this date".
So.....
10 Years ago would have been 10/28/1997
I would have been married for just over 2 years, we would have been living in Fort Belvoir VA. I was working at that time for the Department of the Navy in their MWR library. Basically my job was making copies for other MWR offices and mailing them off. My how the internet would have changed that job I am sure!!!
20 Years ago would have been 10/28/1987
I would have just started High School at Dubuque Senior High School. Man that takes me back. It was the first time I didn't have to wear a uniform to school and I am pretty sure I was having the time of my life (NOT) trying to figure out what to wear every day. My favorite classes my freshman year were Algebra I, Biology and German. Just FYI, I tried out for cheerleading at the beginning of the year and didn't make it.
30 Years ago would have been 10/28/1977
My baby sister was just born back in March and I loved having a big doll in the house. We lived in the big brick house on Central that was really close to the park. There was a little community center there at the park where I went to preschool. I had a little dog named happy and really long hair that I loved to wear in pig tails. And I remember my bedroom was all pink with a black and white tile floor where I loved to pretend that I was a ballerina!

The Holiday
Cornerstone Memories is where I went away this weekend. It is located in Tipton IN and is the cutest little bed and breakfast!! From the outside you wouldn't have guessed it was a bed and breakfast but it was wonderful. Lots of room for scrapping and the bedrooms were very nicely decorated.
This is the first time I have ever met Erin and Lisa (left and middle respectively) in person and they were just as sweet and bubbly in person and I imagined they would be. We had a great time and hit it off. All the other girls at the B&B were amazed that we had never met before.
And here is one last picture for you, I will post more later but here I am (not a great picture but when do I take a good one) and just to prove that it was a scrapping vacation and we weren't actually in Vegas or something, I am scrapping! :) Toads and worms and going to school OH MY!!
Well today when I opened the garage door to walk to school with the boys, Ian squeals with delight "Look mommy a frog!!" So of course we had to go and take a look (already running late this morning so what are an extra 5 minutes right). Not only was there one toad (not frog) there were 4 toads, 3 pretty good sized ones and one little itty bitty one that I almost ran over with the stroller because I didn't see him.
I would have let them pick them up and stuff but we just didn't have the time so that was sad but I know they live in our yard cause I see them all the time when I am working in the flower beds and I hear hubby talk about them when he cuts the grass so they will be back.
We didn't get much rain it seemed like yesterday but this morning was super humid, so humid while walking my glasses kept fogging up with condensation (talk about annoying). But there was quite a heavy dew outside this morning too so besides just seeing the toads we also had to stop about 6 times on the way to school to check out the worms (and in some cases move them so they didn't get stepped on *insert rolling eyes here* just what I want to do in the morning is save worms!!)
So that has been my day so far, I need to take a shower but was waiting a few moments until my underwear weren't quite so stuck to my body with sweat. Have a good one everyone!!

You Might Not Be Watching
Well the fall lineup of TV shows has started and I am definitely loving having my computer hooked up to the satellite. Yes we have tricked the computer into thinking it is a TIVO machine. I love having it like this, and I have become a snob that can't watch regular TV anymore. I can't stand having to watch commercials and I find myself holding onto the remote trying to fast forward through commercials when I can't (and yes I tried pushing the button a couple times, if you didn't tape it you can't fast forward).
And what am I watching...
MONDAY
Chuck - this Nerd Herder gets all of the CIA/NSA's secrets downloaded into his head. Very funny especially if you are married to a geek.
Journeyman - Man goes back in time, ok so it is a like Quantum Leap but heck I liked that show too.
TUESDAY
NCIS
HOUSE - I love this show, probably my favorite.
Eureka - on Sci-Fi, this is the funniest show if you haven't checked this out I definitely recommend it. It is all about this average Joe sherriff working in a small town called Eureka where everyone is a genius.
WEDNESDAY
Criminal Minds
CSI: New York
America's Next Top Model - my secret (well not anymore since I posted it here) reality TV show
Gossip Girl - this is really a silly show that reminds of like Beverly Hills 90210 but I really want to know who Gossip Girl is now that I have started watching
Bionic Woman - although I tape it on Friday nights on the Sci-Fi channel so I am always a week behind but that is ok with me, good trade off not to have to watch commericals
THURSDAY
CSI - the original
Smallville - well ok this is for hubby but I still watch it
FRIDAY
Stargate: Atlantis
NUMBERS
Monk
Psych
And why is it that there is nothing good on TV on the weekends anymore. I remember watching the wonderful world of disney and national geographic on Sunday nights. Well it is just a good thing that I tape everything so I have something to watch.
Well off to play with my new goodies from ScrapAddict.com, the mailman just dropped them off. I got some awesome Hambly overlays and some Jenni Bowlin tags.

World Card Making Day
...was Saturday October 6th and it is the day that someone picked as the start of the holiday card making season (there is a season for that now - I always just thought you waited until Thanksgiving and then rushed to make them or ran out to Target and bought the first ones you see).
Well at ScrapAddict this weekend the DT all made card sketches and cards.
Here are some of mine.

This one is based on Pixleyyy's sketch.

This one is based on Kellibluefrog's sketch.
This one is based on Pixleyyy's sketch and it is probably my favorite but I would never in a thousand years make a bunch of these for Xmas. The hand stitching took forever. Guess I will have to break out the sewing machine for the rest of them.
There are a couple more too but I don't have them saved on this computer. This is the only downside to have more than one computer that you work from at home.

Boutique Challenge
I wandered over to ScrapinStyleTV and found some cool challenges this week so I tried a couple out.

This one is Fashionista Andrea's Challenge. You had to use at least 2 different patterned papers by different manufacturers and a little bit of lace and the word "October" in your title.

And this one was for Fashionista Gretchen's Challenge. For her's you had to use 10 photos.
